The film that made Clara Bow a star. In her first lead role, Bow is Betty Lou Spence, a shopgirl who has a crush on the store manager, Cyrus Waltham Jr. (Antonio Moreno), who also happens to be the son of the owner and heir to their fortune. Using Cyrus’s friend Monty (William Austin) to get close to him, she finally convinces Monty to take her on a date to Coney Island, playing hard to get at the end of the night. When Monty overhears Betty claiming her sick roommate’s child as her own so that the child wouldn’t be taken away, the relationship seems doomed, but Betty has a plan to use her “it” factor to win him back.

Live piano accompaniment by Dr. Philip C. Carli.
