Following a fevered epiphany, Jerry writes a memo that questions the ethics of his field. After being fired from his agency, Jerry decides to strike out on his own with an inspired accountant (Renée Zellweger) and his lone remaining client (Cuba Gooding, Jr.). As Jerry struggles through his new life, he finds love and support in his new, smaller circle. Loaded with memorable lines and iconic moments, the film was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and provided Cuba Gooding, Jr. with the Best Supporting Actor trophy and an equally iconic onstage moment.
