The Killer

Saturday, January 6, 2024, 7:30 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(David Fincher, US 2023, 118 min., DCP)

David Fincher’s latest film stars Michael Fassbender as a lonely, unnamed professional hitman whose life and routine is disrupted when an assassination attempt goes wrong. The Killer quickly destroys all evidence of his presence and escapes to his hideout only to discover that the forces that hired him have now set him as the next target. Using a lifetime of skills, he works his way back up the chain of command, eliminating everyone who can identify him to ensure his safety. Fassbender’s largely-silent performance is supported by another superb score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - nominated for Best Score by the Greater Western New York Film Critics Association! The changing landscape of film distribution means that not every major release sees its first light on the big screen. This screening represents the first chance in Rochester to see The Killer in a theatrical setting.
