Resolution #6: Spend more time with family. Louis D’Ascoyne Mazzini (Dennis Price) wants to spend more time with his family. Unfortunately, he also wants to kill them. Louis, whose mother eloped with an Italian opera singer and was disowned by her family, is ninth in line for the title of Duke of Chalfont. In order to regain his mother’s honor and gain the dukedom, Louis resolves to murder the eight D’Ascoynes ahead of him (all played by Alec Guinness) and make it look like accidents. This dark comedy comes from Britain’s famed Ealing Studios and serves as one of Guinness’s breakout performances.
