(Dangsinjasingwa dangsinui geot, Hong Sang-soo, South Korea 2016, 86 min., Korean w/subtitles)

Virtual Dryden Theatre | Streaming Online.  As Hong Sang-soo’s reputation rises globally, more of his films are becoming available in the United States. Produced just after Hong’s masterpiece Right Now, Wrong Then, this film takes a similar absurdist tack, resulting in a mystery that exists less to be solved than to be ruminated over. Painter Youngsoo (Kim Joohyuk) hears a rumor that his girlfriend, Minjun (Lee Youyoung), has been drinking and getting into a fight with another man at a bar. Youngsoo had already been concerned about her drinking, but when he confronts her, Minjun denies any knowledge of the incident. After they break up, Youngsoo obsesses over Minjun, while she (or someone that looks like her?) continues to drink with the men she meets.
