Pat and Mike is one of the most successful mutual films of Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. The delightful comedy sustains its contemporary meaning by its depiction of love as an equal proposition. Hepburn portrays Pat, a brilliant athlete. She could be one of the best, but she consistently fails in competition whenever her fiancé is around. In order to gain back her confidence, she hires Mike Conovan (Tracy), a sports promoter. Mike's athletic support for Pat soon turns into love, and their mutual taking to one another makes one of the prettiest romantic comedies of the 1950's. The Academy Award-nominated screenplay was written by the husband-and-wife team of Ruth Gordon and Rochester-born Garson Kanin.
