(Frank Peregini, US 1929, 69 min., 16mm)
An upper-class and up-and-coming composer, Alvin, falls for Louise, a woman from a lower-class background. When Alvin saves her from an overly excited suitor, Louise looks at him in a whole new way, and a red-hot romance leads to a quick elopement. But Alvin, fearful of his haughty mother, keeps his marriage a secret, bringing his relationship to the brink of a breakup. This was the final film released by the Colored Players Film Corporation, a film company operating out of Philadelphia. Rising costs, including those related to the advent of sound, and competition from other production companies put the company out of business.
Live piano accompaniment by Philip Carli.
