The Silence of the Lambs

When asked to select a film to introduce at the Dryden Theatre on the evening before she receives the George Eastman Award, Jodie Foster selected The Silence of the Lambs (1991).Jodie Foster earned her second Academy Award in four years for her portrayal of Clarice Starling in this film that swept the awards. Clarice is an FBI Academy student pulled from her training to work with Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) of the Behavioral Science Unit. Crawford has tabbed her to interview imprisoned serial killer Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) about a recent string of killings because he believes Clarice will disarm him. As Lecter begins to reveal what he knows about the mysterious “Buffalo Bill,” he and Clarice enter a cat-and-mouse game in a race against the clock to rescue a senator’s daughter.
Jodie Foster will talk about the film on stage in the Dryden Theatre prior to the screening.
