Sam and Molly Thornhill (John Harron and Laura La Plante) are the platonic ideal of a married couple—ardently devoted to each other, but still quarreling in a playful way. On the eve of their wedding anniversary, Sam fails to notice a pair of stockings placed in his pocket by a client, which Molly discovers when he gets home. Their mutual friend, Judge Moore (Otis Harlan), decides to teach the couple a lesson and suggests that the stockings may be grounds for a divorce. During their trial separation, however, the couple finds themselves miserable and when both book individual trips to the seaside, a compromising position may just save the day. A charming comedy, the film provides a starring role for the under-rated Laura La Plante, who was overshadowed by the new talent streaming to Hollywood at the advent of sound, effectively shortening her career.
