Veer-Zaara (35mm)

Saturday, March 28, 2026, 2 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Yash Chopra, India 2004, 192 min., 35mm, Hindi with English subtitles)

Shah Rukh Khan re-unites nearly a decade later with Aditya Chopra, the writer-director of his breakout hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, in this epic cross-national romance. Veer (Khan) is an Indian air force pilot. Zaara (Preity Zinta) is a wealthy Pakistani traveling to India to spread her nanny’s ashes. When Zaara’s bus gets into an accident, Veer rescues Zaara and takes her to his home. While the two fall in love, they are surprised to see Zaara’s fiance, Raza (Manoj Bajpayee), at the train station, who has arrived to take her home. A border does not keep their hearts apart, but Raza vows to make them pay, leading to a long prison sentence. Rani Mukerji plays Veer’s lawyer, and Amitabh Bachchan makes a special appearance as his uncle.
