As a young animator, Walt Disney started making short films for his own company and then for Universal. His “Alice” series featured a combination of animation and live-action with a human Alice interacting with her animated cat, Julius, and having adventures. For Universal, Disney would often direct and animate the character of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The beginnings of what would become Mickey Mouse are clearly seen in these early shorts.
