Classical guitarist Brian Dooley will perform an hour-long concert in the Conservatory. Dooley was born and raised on Long Island and received his bachelor of music performance in classical guitar at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York. He has performed extensively in both classical and electric guitar across New York State. Dooley is now pursuing his masters of music performance and literature for the classical guitar at the Eastman School of Music. Performance Plus with the Eastman School of Music is a recital series on the third Sunday of each month featuring performers from the Eastman School of Music and informed program commentary by Eastman PhD students.

Brian Dooley is a guitarist residing in Rochester, NY. He is currently a Doctoral student at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. At Eastman he serves as a graduate assistant to Nicholas Goluses, lecturing on fretboard harmony, guitar pedagogy, guitar history, and
teaching secondary lessons.
Brian's musical training began when he was 8 learning Scottish bagpipes, performing and competing with the New York Metro Pipeband. His career as a classical guitarist has led to recent performances at the George Eastman Museum and Palmer Opera House. At Eastman he has served as a board member of OSSIA New Music, a student run organization, which curates and brings contemporary music to both Eastman and the greater Rochester area.
As a performer, Brian aims to collaborate and commission new works for the guitar and has recently recorded Matthew Welch’s composition “Gorgamor the Giant Gecko” on KOTEKAN Records. His most recent recording of Kitty Xiao’s “Two works of introspection” for electric guitar and electronics is to be released later this year. He plays a cedar top guitar built by Juan Miguel Gonzales.
