About the Musician

Edward Dean (b. 1991) is a MM candidate and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY (USA), the Director of Music at St Luke and St Simon Cyrene, Rochester NY, and is a prize-winning graduate of the Royal College of Music, London.

In July 2013 he graduated from the Royal College of Music in London with First Class Honours, winning the Harold Darke prize for organ performance at the same time. At the Royal College he studied interpretation and improvisation with Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer Choplin (Saint-Sulpice, Paris), with David Graham (Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farm Street), and harpsichord with Terence Charlston. More recently he continued his studies with Andrew Dewar at the American Cathedral in Paris.

At Eastman, Edward is in the studio of Professor Nathan Laube and is generously supported by several scholarships including Eastman’s Ann Anway scholarship and also the Charles R. Nicholls Memorial Scholarship.

Until recently, Edward was the Organist and Choirmaster at the Anglican Church in Oslo, Norway. Prior to that he was the Assisting Organist at the American Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Paris: there he played a significant role in the training of its three choirs and performed for a great proportion of the cathedral’s services. From 2009-2011, Edward was also the Organ Scholar at St Bride's Church, Fleet Street where he was privileged to have worked alongside London's foremost professional choir. In 2007 he was awarded the first ever Organ Scholarship to Lancing College, Sussex.
