Organ concert performed by Joseph Pechenik

Sunday, February 5, 2023, 3 p.m., Conservatory

A 45 minute organ concert performed by local organist Joseph Pechenik, a student at Yeshiva of Rochester, NY.

Joseph Egon Pechenik is a 15 year old musician and composer from Buffalo New York. He plays accordion professionally for events, and community gatherings. His compositions range in religious and classical music for piano, accordion and organ. Joseph's religious musical training comes from his experience singing in the Beth-El Synagogue choir, and auditing classes at the Belz School of Jewish Music at Yeshiva University. His experience with organ started at age 12, and since then he has played at notable organs such as the Alabama Theater Wurlitzer, the Atlanta Fox "Mighty" Moller, and his practice instrument, the historic Karpeles Museum 1913 Moller. He has also successfully completed the American Theater Organ Society's summer youth program in 2019, where he studied under the famous theater organists Jelani Edington and Jonas Nordwall. Privately he received instruction from ATOS organist of the year Jerry Nagano. Joseph's style of playing is greatly influenced by his theater organ training, religious background and his love for Eastern European folk melodies.
