Performance Plus: Barbershop Wind Quintet

Sunday, April 17, 2022, 3 p.m., Conservatory

The Barbershop Wind Quintet, an upperclassmen woodwind quintet from the Eastman School of Music, was formed as a quintet for the required class, Intro to Woodwind Chamber Music, in 2019, and has stayed together ever since. The quintet consists of flutist Sean Marron, oboist Peter Davies, clarinetist Alyssa Estrella, bassoonist Tatia Slouka, and hornist Gretchen Berendt.

The Barbershop Wind Quintet can be heard at various recitals, school-wide performances, and outreach performances. In 2020, the quintet performed for one of Eastman’s Audition Days in Kodak Hall, for a crowd of prospective students and their families. The quintet was also selected for the school’s outreach program, Eastman to Go, in which chamber groups design and perform their own outreach concerts for various audiences. In 2021, the quintet performed at the University’s Celebrate Diversity concert and Eastman’s Holiday Sing, both in Kodak Hall.

The Barbershop Wind Quintet is coached by Professor Anne L. Harrow.

This program is offered in collaboration with the Eastman School of Music.

Free to members; included with museum admission.
