Soyeon An from Eastman School of Music will perform a selection of music on piano in the historic mansion.

Free to members; included w/ museum admission.

Biography

Soyeon An, 23, from South Korea, began playing the piano at the age of seven. She studied at Sunwha Arts High School and Seoul National University in Korea under Yongsil Kim, Heeguin Kim and Hyungbae Kim. She has won several competitions in her country including Seoul Music Competition, Korea Mozart Orchestra Competition, The New Arts Competition, and the Bucheon Scholarship Competition in Korea. At the age of 17, she got award from superintendent and mayor of Seoul. She also became a winner with special prize at Korea Duo Piano Competition in 2012. In the United States, she received the Faculty Merit Award at 17th Chautauqua Piano Competition. Her performance experience includes Yamaha Hall, Youngsan Art Hall in Korea, Gainesville (FL), San Marcos (TX), Rochester (NY), Pittsburgh (PA) and Hamptons (NY) in the United States. She participated in music festivals including Pianofest in Hamptons (2015), Texas State International Piano Festival (2015), Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival in Florida (2014), Atlantic Music Festival in Maine (2013), Chautauqua Music Festival in New York (2012) and Buam Society Piano Summer Festival in Korea (2011). She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Eastman School of Music under Enrico Elisi.
