About the Musician
Violinist Xiaonan (Shannon) Huang has performed around the world to great acclaim. She was the winner of the Young Artist Series String Competition of Sarasota in 2015, the First Prize of the 21st Chinese National Violin Competition, and the First Prize of Hong Kong International Violin Competition in 2012. Her performing schedule is balanced between solo recitals, chamber music performances, with concerts in Hong Kong, China, Austria, Italy, Germany, and the United States. In 2012, Huang performed the Sebelius Violin Concerto in D Minor with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. In 2015, she collaborated with Guangzhou Baroque Orchestra and performed the Mozart Violin Concerto No.5 and Vivaldi “Four Seasons” in Shamian Church.

Born and raised in Guangzhou, China, Huang grew up under the musical influence of her father, who is interested in many different Chinese and western instruments. A debut at the age of nine in Xinghai Concert Hall launched Huang’s violin career. At the age of twelve, her musical talent brought her to the music school of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Kaiyi Ma. Her passion and love for music deepened during her last year at high school and led her to study for a bachelor's degree in music at the Lynn Conservatory of Music in Florida, where she was awarded full tuition and housing scholarships and studied with American violinist Elmar Oliveira. Huang is currently completing her master’s degree under the tutelage of Professor Mikhail Kopelman at Eastman School of Music.

As a classical violinist, Huang has been able to share her passion and love of music outside the traditional concert halls. In August 2009, she started to volunteer at Guangzhou Welfare House during summer and taught children how to read music and play instruments. Since 2009, Huang has collaborated with the Lions Clubs International and local churches both in China and the United States to perform charity concerts and raise funds for children.
