From daguerreotypes to inkjet prints, the photographs in the exhibition Gathering Clouds: Photographs from the Nineteenth Century and Today span the evolution of photographic technology.
Members are invited to join us as Associate Curator Heather Shannon and Assistant Conservator Sarah Casto discuss the examination, analysis, and conservation treatment of a range of photographs, including Alfred Stieglitz’s Equivalents, to prepare them for exhibition.
The discussion will cover topics including how elemental analysis was used to identify image material, how color measurement facilitates the monitoring of photographs for fading during exhibition, and how several photographs were mounted so they appear to float in their frames.
Registration information will be shared with current members via e-mail. Please contact [email protected] if you are a current member and are interested in registering.
