(John Brahm, US 1945, 75 min., 35mm)

Plagued by mysterious blackouts resulting from loud noises, serious composer George Harvey Bone (Laird Cregar) is working on a concerto when he wakes up in another part of town. When he learns that someone was murdered the night before, a doctor assures him he had nothing to do with it, but when he meets nightclub singer Netta (Linda Darnell), who has more designs on his music than on him, his blackouts increase just as his concerto nears its completion. Hangover Square is a sensational vision of psychopathology with an evocative score by Bernard Herrmann, who also composed Cregar’s featured concerto.

Introduction by Eric Grode, Director of the Goldring Arts Journalism and Communications School at Syracuse University. Followed by a Q&A with Grode and Curator of Film Exhibitions Jared Case.
