Have you ever wondered what it takes to create an exhibition? Join Phil Taylor, associate curator, Department of Photography for a virtual presentation that explains what goes on behind the scenes to develop and mount an exhibition.
There are many steps to conceptualize, prepare, and present the exhibitions to the public. The museum's galleries each serve distinct purposes, and the curatorial team plans exhibitions specifically for a given space, while striving for a variety of historical and contemporary photographs, as well as a range of photographic processes and genres. Displays are derived both from the collection and through works on loan. Since photographs are light sensitive, it is imperative that exhibitions at the Eastman Museum are regularly changed to protect the objects. This virtual presentation will provide an overview of the work undertaken by museum staff to create the engaging exhibitions on view at the museum.
