A Joke of Destiny

(Scherzo del destino in agguato dietro l’angolo come un brigante da strada, Lina Wertmüller, Italy 1983, 108 min., 35mm, Italian w/subtitles)

An Italian minister’s maximum security limousine stops for a mechanical malfunction in front of the villa of a member of the parliament who aspires to become the undersecretary of state but has been denied the opportunity by the minister. The two men work secretly to avoid a scandal in the political world. The attempt results in an ending with a surrealistic twist.
