(Ken Loach, UK 2019, 100 min.)
Sorry We Missed You picks up where Ken Loach's I, Daniel Blake left off exploring workers’ lives under the stress of late-stage capitalism. Desperate for work, family man Ricky Turner applies to be a “franchised” delivery man, under a restrictive and punitive contract to an Amazon-like supply company. Late deliveries, car trouble, and long hours mount as Ricky and his wife are pulled in different directions. Sorry We Missed You premiered at Cannes in 2019, and the Dryden was one of the first American theaters to bring this film to audiences when it was shown last fall.
