Bruce Posner in Person Curator-preservationist-historian Bruce Posner will comment upon the expressive possibilities of twentieth-century avant-garde experimental cinema with an outstanding selection of 35mm and 16mm films digitally restored by Posner as part of his landmark touring film retrospective, Unseen Cinema: Early American Avant-Garde Films, 1894–1941.

This presentation will cover the cataloging process for the Technology collection’s motion picture equipment. This collection consists of cameras, projectors, and ephemera, acquired over the years from numerous donors; the majority of the material was acquired from the Eastman Kodak Company’s Patent Museum.

Selections from the Collection
For this nineteenth rotation, Stephanie Hofner, collection manager in the Department of Photography, worked with her four-year-old daughter Sawyer to select objects. While previous displays have been thematic, we will be sharing a wider variety of objects in the rotations going forward, while still highlighting the breadth and depth of the museum’s photograph holdings. An emphasis on family-friendly content can also be found thanks to Stephanie and Sawyer’s collaboration.
