From Rochester, With Love | Halloween Rochester-born screenwriter Jeffrey Boam returned to the horror genre with this Gen-X update of vampires in Northern California. Lucy Emerson (Dianne Wiest) moves to Santa Carla, California with her two teenage boys — Michael (Jason Patric), and Sam (Corey Haim). Michael is quickly entranced by Star (Jami Gertz), while Sam falls in with the Frog Brothers (Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander), who inform him that the town is teeming with vampires.

George Eastman Award

Exploring Animation: Rochester International Academy Phenakistoscope Discovery Project

The Rochester International Academy (RIA) was founded by the Rochester City School District in 2011 to facilitate the cultural and academic transition of newly arrived English language learners. Rochester International Academy students worked with Art Teacher Ben Rubin for an introduction to the theme of moving images bridging traditional and digital media. Through this project, the students explored multiple artistic media, the optical illusion that makes all forms of animation possible, and their own creativity.
