When Gregory Peck arrives as the new head of a mental institution, staff doctor Ingrid Bergman is, attracted to him but begins to suspect that something is amiss. Hitchcock explores the unfathomable machinations of the human mind in this intriguing mystery, partially set in Rochester. Spellbound, Bergman’s first pairing with Hitchcock, is also notable for a surreal dream sequence conceived by Salvador Dalí, and a moody, Theremin-tinged score by Miklós Rózsa.

Alfred Hitchcock would have turned 125 years old on August 13, 2024. To celebrate his legacy, the Dryden Theatre is taking a deep dive into his filmography with a year-long film series that spans his early days in silent film to his final works in the 1970s.
