In order to save the universe from a deadly alien probe, Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and company must travel back in time to San Francisco, 1986. Their mission: hijack a pair of humpbacked whales, the only creatures capable of stopping the probe, and bring them back to a future where they are extinct. The beloved Spock directs perhaps the most enjoyable film of the series, deriving much of its humor from watching the technologically and medically advanced Enterprise Crew cope with our “modern” world.
