Senior Matinee. In a nightmarish noir scenario, Dana Andrews plays a brutal New York cop who accidentally kills someone while investigating a murder and then proceeds to cover his tracks. This was the last picture Preminger made under his original contract at 20th Century Fox and it shares the dark undertones and ambiguity of his best films from this period, like Laura and Fallen Angel. Gene Tierney and Karl Malden costar.
