The Wicker Man--Final Cut

Saturday, July 25, 2015, 8 p.m., Dryden Theatre

After receiving an anonymous letter about a missing 12-year-old girl, a devout Christian cop travels by seaplane to a remote Scottish island to investigate. But the islanders welcome neither his badge nor religious devotion, for laird of the isle (Christopher Lee) and his devoted followers worship only the pagan gods of old—and those gods demand a sacrifice. The cop fears for the missing girl's life and follows every possible lead to find her—despite the islanders' interference—before she becomes a human sacrificial lamb.

The Wicker Man has great, entertaining dialogue but it’s not like other highly quotable cult movies. It’s about something alien and yet close by. And it changed music, art and film when fans rediscovered it en masse in the 1990s. You need to see it if you haven’t already, and if you have—watch it again. It never gets tired.” – William Fowler, Sight and Sound (2014)
