Abstract: Ledger contains financial information about the Chicago Colortype Co., a three-color photoengraving plant which began operations around 1895. Includes correspondence from Gustav Zeese, developer of the process used by the company who also served as general manager of the manufacturing department.
Scope & Contents: The material in the ledger primarily relates to the Chicago Colortype Company, a three-color photoengraving plant in Chicago, and documents the early success of the company as well as its gradual decline. The ledger includes financial statements such as balance sheets and profit and loss statements as well as correspondence from Gustav Zeese.
