Scope & Contents: The material in this collection primarily relates to MacDonald's role as a portrait photographer. Five of the scrapbooks include newspaper clippings from Vogue, New York Tribune, New York Globe, New York Times, and the New York Herald advertising MacDonald's photography studio. The "Samples of Office Stationary" scrapbook contains lists of MacDonald's awards, appointment reminders, business cards, advertisement reprint prices, and invoices for stationary and paper. The three formula notebooks contain articles regarding formulas for developers, artistic lighting, dry mounting, and other photographic processes. They also include handwritten lists, instructions, and formulas.
