Perception, language, and the nuances of photographic vision are common themes in the work of Robert Cumming (American, b. 1943). His method of portraying the physically impossible so that it appears visually accurate has its roots in his early career as a painter, sculptor, performance artist, and mail artist. Garden Vibes: Pine Leaf Boys
The 23rd season of Garden Vibes kicks off with the Pine Leaf Boys. This four-time Grammy-nominated band hailing from southwest Louisiana have made a name presenting their own inimitable brand of Cajun music with youthful exuberance. Known for their wild shows and thoughtful arrangements, the Pine Leaf Boys have breathed new life into Cajun music, reviving ancient songs and bringing them to the bandstand.
Garden Vibes: Matuto
Matuto takes the stage for the second installment in the 23rd season of Garden Vibes. Matuto’s songs can sway hips just as easily as spark insights. Instruments (accordion, guitar, bass, drums, cavaquinho, zabumba, and triangle) whirl around the core of Matuto’s sound: the syncopations of Brazilian music and the folk traditions of the American South—it’s bluegrass meets Brazil.
Garden Vibes: Dom Flemons
Our 23rd season of Garden Vibes wraps up with Dom Flemons, the "American Songster." A multi-instrumentalist, Flemons plays banjo, guitar, harmonica, fife, bones, bass drum, snare drum, and quills, in addition to singing.
